A brief history of the Nathan Coffee Table (in short)

The first coffee table specifically designed and called as such came into existence in the Victorian era, believed to have been designed by E.W Godwin in 1868.

There are some different connections that have been made as to where the idea may have come from. Perhaps from the low tables commonly found in Japanese households, or some say it may have been a variant of the tea tables found in the late Ottoman Empire.

Where ever the inspiration came from, the coffee table has boomed in popularity since, due to the invention of the TV, as the low design of the table does not block the view even with drinks upon it.

The design has constantly been updated throughout the years until we reach the modern day coffee tables designed by Nathan, a beautiful step in coffee table evolution. The updated design of the table allows us to use all of the carpentry skills gained over time, giving you stronger joining methods and better wood treatment.
